As of this post, there are over 1,100 customer reviews and the TireTek Flexi-pro gauge is still rated to 4.8 out of 5 stars. Very good indication of quality and performance. It seems we’ve found the best of both worlds, an easy to use gauge that’s accurate and can withstand the test of time. Let’s take a closer look.
When you order this gauge, there is an option for a 45º angle rotating ball chuck end or a secondary option for two separate chuck ends. The secondary option has interchangeable straight or right angle chuck heads. Either option is a good choice, it’s truly up to what your preferences are for your tire gauge. If you’re simply planning to use this gauge on your car, truck or SUV then you’re likely well suited for the rotating 45-degree ball chuck. Here is the link for the single rotating ball chuck and here is the link for the interchangeable straight and right angle chucks. Either option is a good choice.
Being a mechanical gauge, it’s very straight forward to operate. Simply put the chuck on the valve stem and get your measurement on the dial face. The reading will display on a high contrast scale and will be accurate to within +/- 2% as calibrated per ANSI standards. Once you remove the chuck from the stem, your reading will still be displayed until pushing the pressure release button. Simple. This pressure release button also operates as a bleed valve for releasing air in the case of over-inflation.
Even with such a high rated, high reviewed item there is still a small handful of purchasers that were unhappy. A common thread throughout the negative reviews was that air leaks, either from the pressure release valve or from the connection where the hose meets the gauge. Now, keep in mind, we’re talking about less than 5 reviews in over 1,100 total that experienced leakage issues.
Another comment included a gripe about the gauge being very tough to rotate on the gauge end of the hose. This made things difficult for trying to read the measurement while accessing a hard to reach valve stem. Additionally, another reviewer commented that the gauge malfunctioned after 4 months of light use. A separate reviewer seconded that notion. But, here again, we’re talking about so few instances in all verified purchases that this does not seem to be a trend in quality issues.
One last comment to point out was some felt the gauge was overly bulky. It wouldn’t easily fit in the glove compartment and, therefore, must be stored in the trunk. In my opinion, there is a certain level of bulkiness that does come with a gauge that has an included air hose. If storage space is at a premium in your vehicle, this gauge without an air hose might be more appropriate for you.
Adding it all up, the pros and the cons, and letting the comments absorb there is a pretty clear conclusion. This is a very recommendable tire pressure gauge for the average user. It may not be the choice for avid race goers at the track but will certainly prove it’s worth to the person checking tire pressure every month.
The simplicity is what appeals, with the easy to read dial and single push button air release valve. A buyer of this tire gauge should expect an easily operated, durable, and accurate measurement time and time again. If your plan is to use this on a passenger vehicle, car, truck, bicycle or motorcycle then there should be a high level of confidence putting this in your cart.
