Having a good pressure gauge offers you peace of mind for a smoother and more comfortable drive since you will know the exact pressure measurement in your tires.  By having your tire pressure set accurately, you’re helping to prevent undue wear and tear on your investment. This is because your tires are optimally inflated to the recommended PSI. One such option is the DIYCO Elite Series Professional Digital Tire Pressure Gauge to meet both accuracy and durability needs! Pros

There is much to like about the DIYCO Elite Series Professional Digital Tire Pressure Gauge, especially considering how affordable it is.  What really appeals is the sleek dial face design and the extra bright LED display.  It’s crystal clear and has large numbers which are very easy to read.  No squinting necessary when trying to take the pressure reading off this gauge.

At 8 oz it’s not as heavy as other competing models but that certainly doesn’t diminish the feel of quality.  It’s evident that a lot of care was taken in manufacturing the DIYCO DTG-400. The heavy duty rubber casing and brass hose ends are rugged and durable.  The bleed valve assembly and chuck end are also both constructed in this tough chrome nickel plated brass.

The flexible rubber hose measures 14″ long and is rated to 300 PSI.  This is also quite durable and is made for all-weather use.  At each end, the rotating ends make it easy to access even the hardest to reach valve stems.

As for the gauge itself, there are four measurement options (PSI, BAR, KPA, KG/CM²) and will display the number to a tenth of a unit.  It will read from 3 PSI up to 150 PSI and will be accurate to within +/- 1% according to the manufacturer. On the backside of the gauge, you’ll find the battery compartment which is easy to access and is completely tool-less to open.  When needed, insert 2 more AAA batteries and the gauge is ready to operate again.  Note, however, that because this gauge offers an auto-off feature there should be fewer battery replacement instances over the long run.

Cons

Somewhat disappointing is the lack of an angle chuck option. The ball style chuck is permanently affixed to the hose end fitting so you’re stuck with that.  Competing products will typically offer a replaceable chuck end option.

Also, there are competitors that offer a longer hose than the 14″ found on the DIYCO DTG-400. That may not sound like a big deal, but having an extra 2-3″ when trying to access hard to reach valves can really be convenient.  An extra inch or two goes a long way to ensuring a positive seal on a valve stem.

And, as per usual with digital gauges, the batteries will at some point need replacement.  At least with this gauge you only need to find two (2) triple A batteries unlike other makes that use specialty battery cells.

Verdict

DIYCO claims this gauge can be used on all makes of vehicles. Cars, trucks, SUVs, motorcycles, bicycles, ATVs, lawn mowers, etc.  This may be true but usually the manufacturer will indicate if the gauge is meant to be used with Schrader or Presto type valves.  In other words, do your due diligence before purchasing the DTG-400 if your intended use for this gauge is something other than, say, tire pressure readings on your car, truck or SUV.

Now, if car and truck tire pressure readings is your intended use for this gauge, then it is easy to recommend the DIYCO Elite Series Professional Digital Tire Pressure Gauge.  It’s a fairly newer model, dating back only to October 2016, so as of today there are only a handful of reviews to analyze.  However, the great majority of those reviews are positive and lead to an ultimate rating of 4.2 stars out of 5.

What jumps out to me is the range that this gauge will register.  Typically, competing products will have a range of 0-60, 0-100, 5-100 PSI, etc. This gauge, however, has a range of 3-150 PSI. That is convenient for many tires although, admittedly, you probably don’t have a vehicle in your garage that needs over 100 PSI.  It’s also an accurate gauge, within 1% +/-, so you can be sure that you have the most precise air pressure measurement.

The face of the gauge is also very appealing.  Having the blue LED display is easy on the eyes and the screen also offers a convenient battery life indicator.  And, of course, the rubber casing surrounding the gauge is there to help with protection and durability.

For its class, this gauge is a price and value leader.  What’s more, it has a lifetime warranty so you can purchase with confidence!
