The Accutire MS-4021B Digital Tire Pressure Gauge features a large, easy to read LCD display providing pressure readings from 5-150 PSI in half pound increments. It’s ergonomically designed with an angled head and a rubber coated easy-grip handle. The heavy-duty construction will easily withstand shifting around in a glove compartment or toolbox. Forgetting to turn the gauge off is not a problem because it comes equipped with an automatic shut off system.

Simplicity is the key with the Accutire MS-4021B. It really doesn’t get any easier than this gauge. Press the nozzle to the valve stem and out pops your pressure reading. Visually it appears somewhat awkward looking at first but it’s actually quite nice having the nozzle offset approximately 45º off the handle. This is because you can use the back of the display section (silver/beige colored area on the image above) to press your thumb against once engaged to the valve stem.
The handle is rubber coated and provides a comfortable grip. It has a nice smooth finish and is lightweight at 0.6 ounces. This gauge also has an auto-off feature so after a few seconds of no use the unit will shut off on its own. Obviously it’s always nice having a battery preserving feature on any digital device, the Accutire MS-4021B included.
Since the digital display is red numbers on a black background, this can be visually challenging in certain light conditions. On a bright day especially, trying to discern the reading on the display is a bit troublesome.
Speaking of display, many of the negative reviews are complaints about the short display time after taking a pressure reading. The digital display lasts about 3 seconds and for some people this was too short. Conserving battery life is likely the reasoning behind a short display time and this function cannot be adjusted to lengthen the time of display.
Regarding the batteries, several of the negative reviews are comments about short battery life or the batteries being dead on arrival. This is a very common theme among digital tire gauges in general because they all rely on a battery. I cannot think of even one digital tire gauge I’ve reviewed (and I’ve reviewed several) where there hasn’t been a mention of poor battery life or poor battery quality. It seems, unfortunately, that a battery powered tire gauge will always have these types of questions anc concerns.
Lastly, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the elephant in the room… Accuracy. Many of the negative reviews centered on this topic. The gauge claims to be accurate within “+/- 1% + .5” since it displays in .5 PSI increments. A lot of customer reviews challenge this accuracy but, again, this is a common argument for any tire gauge, not just this particular selection. My stance is this; if you are truly concerned about being within a small tolerance (e.g. +/- 1%) of your tire’s recommended pressure, then you should probably be looking at a different gauge that is at a much higher price point. Like this one here for example.
This model gauge has been available since 2005 so it passes the test of time. Based on its longevity on Amazon and the lengthy list of verified purchases one can only conclude that you’re getting what you pay for. And that is a cost effective, serviceable digital tire gauge that will provide a few years worth of tire pressure readings. It’s simple to use, hassle-free, and will fit in most compartments within your vehicle.
There are over 3,300 reviews at the time of this post and approximately 87% of those are positive. The accuracy questions brought forward in a large portion of the negative reviews gives me slight pause, however, one also needs to consider all the positive reviews and 4.4 of 5 star rating. For my money, if my objective was to find a tire gauge for personal vehicle usage that fits the budget and will work when needed, the Accutire MS-4021B would be worthy of consideration.
